You'll Be In My Heart

One of my favorite movies of all time is Disney's Tarzan. I love how in the beginning of the movie, he seems like a lost kid. After a tragic accident, his parents are nowhere to be found. Lonely he lies, innocently in the cradle high above in the treetops. Not to long ago, an ape mother lost he child. She feels the sting of death and is in mourning for her son. One day while wondering through the forest, she hears his cry and runs to his aide. She picks him, up examines this new creature, smells his diaper, and quickly puts him back down. From the very beginning this ape mother looks past there differences, loves this little child. She says to him, you'll be in my heart. It is this love that helps him transform and grow into a giant among men. In the end he served his tribe by saving them from the poachers. In our lives, God is our loving heavenly father. For "he doeth not anything, save it be for the benefit of the world, for he loveth the world, even that he layeth down his own life that he might draw all men unto him."(2 Nephi 26:24) "All men are privileged like unto the other, and none are forbidden."(2 Nephi 26:28) We are all his children, the spirit bearing witness. He says to us all, "you'll be in my heart." Although we may past through trying times, he will never abandon us, for "he has graven us on the palms of his hands."(Isa. 49:16) He love and cares for each of us, however, he usually answers are prayers through another. By being the answer to someones prayer, we often find the answers to our own. Take for instance the movie Tarzan. Surely both the young child and the mother went through trying times, prayed for someone to help. Each answered each others prayer as they loved and served each other. So the question lies, how do we know he is in our hearts. We can know for our self by our own actions. As we read and ponder his atonement, we will be able to apply it in our lives and love those around us. Piece by piece, day by day, we can apply faith in his teachings until we become like him in our deeds, thoughts, and words. We will be able to say to him, youll be in my heart, our nature will be changed. (mosiah 3:19) It all starts with prayer. Prayer is the communication between us in him. We first adress him, thank him for blessings, then speak from the heart. We ask for strength in our trials, comfort in our heartache. We ask for his spirit to be with us. As we serve others we will feel close to him, he will be in our hearts because we are becoming like he is, our very nature will be changed. When we are in the service of our fellow man, we are in the service of our God.(Mosiah 3:19) May we all be able to say to God and each other, you'll be in my heart. We can show our love today by sending a letter to a friend. By telling other we love them. Visiting those in need, smiling as we pass others by, asking if they need help. Saying a simple hello. Calling that friend who is feeling down or left out. As we do small things each day, our hearts can be changed in a big way, until we emulate his example and his light in all that we do, everywhere we go.
