One of my favorite teams growing up was the Washington Wizards. Being from the DC area, I was able to go and watch some of there games. Thy were a fast paced, explosive offensive team. 3 of there top players were Gilbert Arenas, Caron Butler, and Antwan Jamison. Each averaged over 20 points a game, the highest scoring trio in the NBA. They seemed to work together in perfect harmony, proving when on top of there game to be unstoppable. Arenas was the play maker. A strong finisher, with the ability to win close games, and the ability to lead, being there go to man. Jamison was just an all around solid player. Good on both sides of the ball, with a constant mid range jumper he relied on. Butler had a quick drive, a solid shot, and when on top of his game it was hard to stop him. Together they supported each other, won many games. Another one of my favorite players, Kevin Garnet is an all star. He became and NBA champion when pared with the Celtics Rondo and Pierce. Just like in these cases, the Godhead work together to create the big 3. In our times of trouble and sorrow, we can turn to them for help and peace. "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the father, the word(Jesus Christ) and the holy Ghost"(1 Jhn 5:7) which form the perfect team. There objective is to help each of us, there children, to return to live with them again some day. They showed the way when Jesus went to John to be Baptized. "The spirit of God descending upon him,and a voice form heaven saying this is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased."(Matt 3:15-17) Al three were there working together for our benefit. Jesus said " my father worketh, and I work. The son can do nothing of himself, but that which he sees the father do."(John 5:17-20) The purpose of Jesus Christs ministry was to fulfill his fathers work. He suffered for my sins, for your sins, making it possible to change, to feel peace in times of need. He died on the cross to take away the sting of death, to bring men back into the presence of the father to be judged. If we will but live his gospel, we can be one with him again. This includes trusting him enough to follow him, his commandment, like he followed his father. He was baptized to show us we need to be baptized for the remission of sins, or to take them away, and start over again. When done by the proper authority, we can receive the gift of the holy ghost, which allows us to be one with him, be clean and follow him through the guidance of the spirit. Since the beginning of time this gospel has been taught, and rejected. Jesus himself came down and was rejected, resulting in the loss of this gospel, the loss of the authority to give the Holy Ghost. This was restored through a young boy named Joseph smith, who prayed to know the truth. In an answer to his prayer, he "I saw a pillar of light, exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. When the light rested upon me I saw two personages, who's glory and brightness defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spoke to me, calling me by name, and said, pointing too the other, "This is my beloved son, hear him." I know on that day Jesus and God showed themselves again and restored there true church on earth. May we all search for the truth. Anyone can ask heavenly father in faith, and receive an answer by the power of the holy ghost, which will give feelings of peace and joy. By reading and praying about the Book of Mormon one can know Jesus was the Christ, that he has restored his churh, and that Joseph was a prophet. May we live the gospel by following Jesus Christ like he followed his father is my humble prayer.
