Why Easter?

As a kid Easter was always a great holiday, with the family gathered around. We had alot of great traditions, such as the Easter egg hunt for candy(my favorite), the silly string war, and a big meal to cap it off. It never really crossed my mind that there could be more to Easter than that. Besides, what could be greater than candy and food. It wasn't until I grew older that I realized the meaning behind Easter. In and attempt to answer the question, why Easter, I hope you will read this poem and that it touches you're heart.                                  

WHY EASTER
There must be more to Easter
than candy, eggs, and gum
there must be more than food galore,
and fun for everyone

Deeper lies the meaning,
deeper lies the truth,
while candy, eggs, food and gum,
will do for a sweet tooth

Who is this man from Galilee
that calls to all, Come follow Me
who healed the blind,
who walked the sea,
who died long ago for you and me

Jesus is his name,
the savior of the world,
because he died,
and rose again
we each will do the same

The true meaning of Easter is Jesus Christ the son of God. He not only was a teacher, but a healer as well. Not only is he a healer, but the way back to heaven. Because he died and rose again on the third day, all mankind are saved from physical death. I know he lives and loves each of us, and through him we can return to live in heaven again.
