Talents

Recently on my Facebook profile I asked the question, what talents have you been blessed with. I was surprised at how many different responses I received. It just goes to show we are all unique sons and daughters of God, being blessed with talents from Him. On the way home from Helena last week, we passed a large billboard on the side of the road that caught my eye. On it was a large picture of Jackie Robinson, with the word "Character, pass it on," in red lettering underneath. Looking at his life, surly he left a legacy of character behind him by choosing to share his talents. It is not our ability's that show who we truly are, but what we choose to do with them. Jackie often said he believed life to be a test, in which he passed by pushing through and using his talents to better himself and the world around him. We to can leave a legacy behind us, by choosing to share our talents in a positive way. All of us, no matter who we think we are or where we come from, rich or poor, bond or free, black, white, red or blue, have been given talents from God to share with others. Jesus gives a beautiful parable about how talents relate to the kingdom of God.(Matt 25:15-19) In it we have one Lord, three servants, and talents given to each of them. We are his servants, blessed with the talents and ability's we need to improve our character, bless the world. The more we share our talents, impart of the word of God, the more we receive.(Matt 25:25,21 Alma 12:9-11) By hiding or burying our talents, we loose them. It doesn't matter what we have been blessed with, or even how much. All that matters is that we use and improve upon the talents we have been given, blessing the world around us. For the man who had five talents turned into ten, and the man who had two talents turned int four, received the same response. Remember, our talents are part of who we are. What we choose to do with them makes us who we are, leaves a legacy of character behind us. May we all choose to press on in faith,  improve our talents, and listen for the saviors voice saying "well done thou good and faithfuls servant: tho hast been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many."(Matt 25:21)
