I absolutely love this time of year, when the NBA playoffs come to an exciting close. This years match up is a repeat from a few years ago, the Heat vs. the Mavs. Will the newly reconstructed Heat with Lebron, Dwayne, and Bosh take the trophy, or will the Mavs headed by Jason Kid take it all. A few years back when these teams met, it went down to the wire. The heat found themselves in a deep hole early. Dwayne put in an extra effort and caught fire, pushing with unrivaled diligence to the end. What makes a champion? What pushes an individual beyond average, into the class of the greats? Its pushing through to the end, or, as we say in the gospel, enduring to the end. To endure to the end means to remain true to Gods commandments despite opposition, temptation, trials to the end of ones life. Games are one in the 4th quarter when we put all we have to finish strong. In life the great challenge is to become like Christ. This happens as we live his gospel, exercise faith, repent, and continue these steps until it becomes a real part of who we are, not just items on a checklist. Enduring to the end produces the character and faith we came to the earth to obtain. May we all do what it takes to follow God, pushing hard through all 4 quarters. Then we may all be able to hear the voice of the father saying: "Ye shall have Eternal Life."(2 Nephi 31:20-21)
