In recent top news was the NBA draft. For all the teams it is a big night, with lots of excitement and anxiety. Depending on the players picked, a team can build up from the ground or come crashing down. For the players, all hard work, hours of practice, finally pays off. Dreams become a reality as they advance from College to the pros. One such story is that of Jimmer Fredette. At a young age, his dream was to play basketball in the NBA. He looked up to his older brother TJ from an early age. Jimmer had a vision, a goal to shoot for, choosing to do all he could to make it there until he was eventually drafted by the Kings.
Our goals in this life should amount to being drafted by the king of kings, even Jesus Christ. He is our older brother, our example, the way back to heaven. We sign a contract at baptism to take his Jersey upon us, always remember him, keep his commandments. Jesus promises to give us the gift of the holy ghost to guide us back to his presence. Although we are away from our home court, we can show up big on the road. Life is a proving ground, in which we are all the players and Satan will try to get us down. If we never stop short of our dreams and goals,(living with him again) do our best to keep the contract, our heavenly father will draft us in to the heaven's above. I know he lives that he is the only way to reach our greatest potential, become like he is. May we all look up to our older brother and shoot for the goal of eternal life.
