The Importance of Vision
This past week as a missionary has taught me a very importaint lesson. I have learned the irreplacable value of vision, having a goal to shoot for, seeking revelation from God. Many people in the world search for truth, for vision, but do not find it. I have often wonderd why that is. As a young man I went on a hike up a mountain, got to the top, but saw nothing. Olny after did I learn that I grew from the experience, even though I did not see anything at first, I exerscied my faith as I climbed and was blessed after my trial. I recieved a letter a few days ago from a good friend, explaining a musical performance she had seen from Alex Boye. He shard his testimony about his mission. There was an elder who would print a picture of him baptizing and put it up around the apartment. When asked about the photo, he replyed how di Joseph Smith resist countless persecution and mobs, threats on his family? He believed in THE VISION. Although we may not see God, we can know he is there by the power of the Holy Ghost. This knowledge can increase our vision, hope for the future. Without vision people perish.(prov 29:18).Since the beginging of time the lord has spoken to prophets, revealed his gospel to them, given them and the people they teach vision.(Luke 1:70) We live in a time as foretold by book of mormon prophets where Satan will use sin to tempt us, his dark mist distorting our vision, our hope and peace. We must not give in to temptation. God is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. If miracles and visions have ceased, its because of unbelief. I know he lives and cares about each of us, his spirit tells me this is tue, invites us to come to him and be guided by the light, back to his loving arms.
