I think the answer to what truth is, where can it be found, is one of the most fundamental desires of the human heart. Growing up, I have seen many changes in the world around me. Its very hard to find a constant source that is true or correct, that does not change. Its hard to find you're way in a world of rapidly changing values, ideas, opinions, laws stating what is right and what is wrong. Satan is the author of all lies, tries every day to deceive us by his dark mists of temptation, to take away the truth. So back to the question, what is truth? Truth is a knowledge of things as they are, as they were, and as they are to come.(Jacob 4:13) Gods laws are based on eternal truths. They cannot be voted upon, or changed to conform the ideas of man. They cannot be changed at all, truth will last forever. God is a God of truth. Jesus Christ is the source of all truth. He came into the world to testify of truth, which is his gospel. His gospel includes faith, repentance, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, and the laying on of hands for the gift of the holy ghost. Only by receiving the truth, living his gospel, can we live with him again. In the Book of Mormon, there is a revelation given concerning the last days. A tree, representing Gods love. A path, representing the on true way back to him. And and iron rod, the word of God that leads us to the tree. Many commence on the path, hold the rod, but Satan uses his mist of darkness to take away the truth, resulting in many lost souls.(1 Nephi 8, DandC84) So how do we stay on the path, or how do we obtain truth?WE CAN OBTAIN TRUTH By the power of the Holy Ghost. What a marvelous thought. WE are Gods children, he can speak to us, we can learn truth from him. For any question we may have, problems we face, we are entitled to seek and find, knock and he will answer. Many times the answers don't come all at once, or in a drastic vision like Saul had. Over time we can gain answers to the puzzle of life piece by piece, revelation by revelation, until the perfect day when we know all things. The steps are simple. WE must first study in our mind, then pray. We must listen for the spirit, which will give us feelings of joy, comfort, peace, thoughts in our mind. Then we must act. The holy ghost will give us the power to know the truth of all things.(Moroni 10:5, 2 Ne. 32:5, John 14:26)To find out more about praying to know thr truth, check out http://mormon.org/book-of-mormon/
